If arriving Brattvåg from south on road 659 continue for 2.5 km after having entered the 50km/h zone. Here one will pass the Coop and the "Ingebrikt Davik-huset" (on one's right hand side). Turn left, continuing on the Storgata road for another 250 metres. Just before a small bridge, after having passed the Brattvåg primary school, turn left. Continue upwards for 1.4 km. Here you will find Brattvåg kindergarten on your left. Park here. The first 450 metres continue south on the road you are parked next to ("Fjellbu"). Follow this road uphill until it makes a 90° right turn. Here, turning left will take you to a small turnaround place. To the left (east) of the southern most house surrounding this turnaround place there is a garage. Walk past it on the left (east) side and put on your skies. The first 30 metres is a bit cumbersome with respect to small trees and steep rocky terrain, but once past this the terrain is more open and flatter. You should locate the old flood-lit path (you will see the remains of the masts) and follow its direction south. If you have concluded that there is enough snow to do this hike there is most likely to be others who have broken tracks; in particular head master Magne is keen on skiing this route.
When you get to the end of the old flood-lit path you continue on the Høgenakken ridge until you get to Håvikskaret, where you will find a registration point for Brattvåg IL mountain hiking competition ("Tannlegepostkassa", where a registration is worth 3 points). There is a power cable crossing above you at this point.
From here there is more likely you will have to break your own tracks. The relatively steep ridge to your south is best ascended on the left hand side (east), but stay as close to the ridge as possible. Once this section is passed you continue uphill on the ridge. You will now loose sight of Håvikhornet, the view being blocked by point 423. When you get to the final steep section up to point 423 you should ski around this top on its right (west) side. Then turn left up the gully south-west of point 423. You can now see Håvikhornet to your south (it has a trigonometric point). Proceed up here in the west side of the hill. At Håvikhornet you find another registration point for Brattvåg IL (worth 4 points).
250 metres further south lies Skulstadhornet. To get there ski directly south from Håvikhornet, down a small hill and up the next hill. Then it is time to take off the skis and walk down into the col (this col is much more gentle than the one on the south side of Skulstadhornet; "Femspannskardet") and up to the summit of Skulstadhornet. At the summit there is a registration point for Norborg IL mountain hiking competition (the registration book can be found inside a small glass located under one of the stones).
The descent is done by following the ascent route. Show some care since you will be skiing down a relatively narrow ridge at some places.
For the first time I skied all the way to Håvikhornet and continued to the col just north of Skulstadhornet. Previously I have only skied to somewhere north of Håvikhornet.
