From Ålesund drive road E39 south, and then onto road 60 at Spjelkavik. Follow signs for Stranda, and drive to Magerholm. Take the ferry across to Aursneset, and then drive 29.4 km towards Stranda on road 60, until you get to the Strandafjellet ski-centre. Park on the large car park on the left hand side of the road (NOK 30 per 2010).
Cross the road and start skiing up the right-most piste, as seen from road 60. When you get to the top of the ski-lift that runs on your left hand side, stay right of the old ski-lift installation and head down into the valley west of Langedalsegga. Ski a few tens of metres along the flat section of the valley and then head up the small steep incline. Then turn right and head for the small top at 861 metres. From this top continue towards the tops 980 and 1060 metres, staying right (north-west) of top 1060. From top 1060 you descend a little before taking on the final climb to Tuvegga summit. When you get up to the summit plateau you continue south-west 300 metres to the summit. The summit is not marked in any way, but there is a cairn a little to the west from the summit.
The descent is best done by reversing the ascent route.
We were spending this Easter at our cabin, and on this nice and sunny Monday I decided to combine driving Sigurd to Strandafjellet ski-centre with a hike to Tuvegga. I had wanted to do Tuvegga by ski, from Hevsdalen, for a long time and this was a perfect opportunity.
The skiing all the way to Tuvegga was most enjoyable, with no wind, fine snow, and a bright sun. At Tuvegga I took my time eating my sandwich, taking photos, and taking pleasure in the first class views. The descent down the 230 vertical metres towards top 1060 was marvellous, with perfect snow for doing telemark turns. After having passed top 1060 I saw tracks other than my own, and soon I found the "owner". We chatted a little, and he told me had skied up from the of the ski-lift, but with no skins, so he had worked hard. I soon also passed his dad.
From here I skied all the way down to my car, got changed and drove back to our
cabin. Sigurd would still be skiing for another few hours, so we would need to
drive back to Stranda to pick him up.
